Beman - First Church of Christ Scientist, 1897
Color photograph by Linda Beierle Bullen, showing First Church of Christ Scientist, 1897 at 4017 S. Drexel Boulevard, Chicago. Now known as Grant Memorial AME Church, Beman modeled this first of many Christian Scientist Churches on the Erechtheion on the Acropolis in Athens and his Classical Greek style set a pattern for later churches. "Solon S. Beman: Architecture in Illinois" exhibit.
