Beman - John A. Jackman, Jr. residential commission

In 1884, John A. Jackman,Jr. hired Beman to build this residence at 5824 S. Harper in Chicago. Jackman was a manager at the Pullman Company and he hired Beman to design a number of houses on the block. This tall, 2-story house has deep, peaked dormers, an open 2-story sleeping porch and a 2-story bay in the front but is not covered in cedar shingle. The original porch roof has been changed as well.
