Filling in Lake Vista

Workmen on temporary siding grade the man-made water feature (Lake Vista) once it is no longer necessary for cooling, and so the city can straighten Cottage Grove. First Reformed Church of Roseland

First Reformed Church of Roseland

The First Reform Church, coner 107th and Michigan Avenue, had the distinction of being the first church organzation in this part of Chicago. It was organized in 1849, when Roseland was only a farming community. The present churh building was erected in 1887, while Rev. Henry Van Eff was pastor. The church has a seating capacity of 1400; being the largest church in this part of the city. Its membership is about 750, and they have a Sunday school of about 1300 enrollment. A splendid pipe organ costin $3250 is one of the attractions of the church. The present Pastor is Rev. Henry Hosper.
