Lincoln Funeral Train on Illinois Central Railroad Breakwater, Chicago

Steam locomotive pulling at least six cars of Lincoln funeral train enroute to Chicago. Print of glass copy negative, possibley from Chicago Historical Society. If a "Pullman Car" was attached to the Lincoln funeral train, it would have been after this photo was taken. Pullman's Palace Car Company was not incorporated until 1869 though George Pullman was creating custom "Pullman Cars" at a variety of locations using other company's car shops. The Pullman/Lincoln funeral issue is still being debated.
